Samar Mezghanni, Sahar El Mougy, Boris Chersonskij: Literatur und Widerstand

Veranstaltungsdaten

“Our rulers are miserable doctors: cauterizing, bloodletting, the void…” Thus the Ukrainian poet Boris Chersonskij in his long poem “there is one who must remain steadfast”. With this work he is among the important poetical voices commenting the political situation in Ukraine. The Tunesian author Samar Samir Mezghanni is among the youngest writers of her generation and has already in 2013 been included in a list as “one of the 100 most powerful Arab women”. The relationship between the media, art and literature on the one hand and the building of the structures of a civil society on the other is one of her chief interests. The Egyptian author and professor for American literature, Sahar El Mougy, also concentrates on the politicization of recent Egyptian literature, on blogs in political resistance and on feminist perspectives. In 2012 she wrote: “Blogging has offered those writers a zone where they can deconstruct and reconstruct their sense of identity against the social and political mainstream.” What is the situation for authors and their texts now, four years after the outbreak of the protests? How do the experiences of the last years enter into literature? How does the relationship between literature and resistance develop?
