Kunst im Protest: Vier Positionen: Viktoria Lomasko, Alexandar Zograf, Nikita Kadan, Andeel

Die Ausstellung „Kunst im Protest“ fragt nach den künstlerischen Positionen in den postrevolutionären Gesellschaften Mittelosteuropas und Nordafrikas. Im Zentrum stehen individuelle Zugänge zu den gesellschaftlichen und politischen Fragen der Länder. Viktoria Lomasko, Russland, präsentiert in ihrem Zyklus „Die Chronik des Widerstandes“ Graphiken zu den Protesten 2011 / 12 in Moskau als Zeitung und bezieht sich damit auf die Tradition des Samizdat, der Literatur der Dissidenten im Selbstverlag in der Sowjetunion. Mit dem großformatigen Fresko „Im Hof“ zeigt sie, wie alltäglich Nationalismus in Russland geworden ist und führt die These einer neofaschistischen Ukraine als russisches Propagandainstrument vor. Der ukrainische Künstler Nikita Kadan wird mit seinem Zyklus „Verhörzimmer / Procedure room“ vorgestellt. Auf acht Tellern sind Folterpraktiken der ukrainischen Miliz dargestellt, die im Stil sowjetischer Sachbücher für Medizin verfasst sind und durch Texte der Essayistin Kateryna Mishchenko begleitet werden. Der ägyptische Comic-Künstler und Filmemacher Andeel stellt in seinen Zeichnungen den Alltag bloß und verbindet die bunten, auf den ersten Blick spielerisch anmutenden Bilder mit feinem politischen Witz. International bekannt wurde der serbische Comic-Zeichner Aleksandar Zograf mit „Regards from Serbia“, einer Serie von autobiografischen Comics während der Bombardierung von Zografs Heimatstadt Pančevo. Seine Arbeiten kreisen um die Themen „Leben im Balkan“,„seltsame Träume“ und „Der hypnotische Einfluss der Medien“. Von Zograf sind Postkarten aus fünf Städten zu sehen.

Viktoria Lomasko, geboren 1978, ist russische Künstlerin und Illustratorin. Sie entwickelt graphische Reportagen und arbeitet zusammen mit der Presse als Künstlerjournalistin.
Aleksandar Zograf, (Saša Rakezić) geboren 1963, ist serbischer Comiczeichner. Seine Werke wurden in Einzelausstellungen u.a. in Belgrad, Seattle, Paris, San Francisco, Rom, Wien, München gezeigt.
Nikita Kadan, geboren 1982, ist ukrainischer Kunstmaler und Grafiker. 2011 wurde er mit dem Pinchuk ArtCentre-Preis und 2014 mit dem „Special Prize of the Jury of The Future Generation Art“ ausgezeichnet.
Andeel, geboren 1986, ist ägyptischer Comiczeichner, Drehbuchautor und Komiker; er arbeitete für die Zeitungen „Al Gael“, „Al Dostour“ und „Al Masry Al Youm“ und ist Mitbegründer der Comiczeitschrift „Tok-Tok“.

The show “Art in Protest” explores artistic positions in the post-revolutionary societies of Central and Eastern Europe and of North Africa - highly individual perspectives on the social and political questions in various countries. Viktoria Lomasko (Russia) has given her graphic cycle ”The Chronicle of Resistance” on the Moscow protests of the years 2011 – 2012 the form of a newspaper, alluding to the tradition of Samizdat, the self-produced literature of dissidents in the Soviet Union. With her large-scale fresco “In the Courtyard” she shows how nationalism has in Russia become part of everyday reality and demonstrates that the assertion of Ukraine’s systemic neofascism is a Russian propaganda ploy. The Ukrainian artist Nikita Kadan presents his series “Interrogation chamber / Procedure Room”. Eight plates show various tortures employed by the Ukrainian militia. The drawings use the style of Soviet medical handbooks; they are confronted with texts by the essayist Kateryna Mishchenko. The Egyptian comics artist and filmmaker Andeel in his drawings reveals everyday tensions using the wit of his coloured drawings with their deceptive playfulness. The Serbian comics artist Aleksandar Zograf became internationally known with his “Regards from Serbia”, a series of autobiographical comics done during the bombing of his home town of Pančevo. His work is centered on themes such as “Life in the Balkans”, “Strange Dreams” or “The Hypnotical Influence of the Media”. Here Postcards from five towns are shown.

Viktoria Lomasko, born 1978, is a Russian artist and illustrator. She creates graphic news reports und works with the press as an artist-journalist.
Aleksandar Zograf (Saša Rakezić), born 1963, is a Serbian comics artist. His works were exhibited in single shows in Belgrade, Seattle, Paris, San Francisco, Rome, Vienna, Munich and elsewhere.
Nikita Kadan, born 1982, is a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. 2011 he received the PinchukArtCentre Prize and 2014 he was awarded the “Special Award of the Jury of "The Future Generation Art”.
Andeel, born 1986, is an Egyptian comics artist, scriptwriter and standup comedian. He has worked for the newspapers “Al Gael”, “Al Dostour” and “Al Masry Al Youm” and is a co-founder of the comics journal “Tok-Tok”.
